With “Offline Backup”, You Can Now Listen to More Songs Offline on Spotify Without Downloading Them

Last month, Spotify launched a new feature for premium users called Offline Backup, designed to offer more offline listening options based on your recent activity. This feature automatically compiles a list of the songs you've recently streamed, allowing you to listen to them offline, even without manually downloading them.

Here's how it works:

  1. Automatic Updates: The Offline Backup playlist updates automatically based on the songs you've recently played. It essentially taps into your device’s local cache of recently streamed tracks and includes songs from your now-playing queue.
  2. Filtering Options: While the list isn’t algorithmically personalized, users can filter songs by artist, mood, or genre, providing some customization.
  3. Offline Availability: This playlist will only appear when you've enabled offline listening and streamed at least five songs recently. You can manage the feature through Settings and Privacy > Storage > Offline Listening and Settings and Privacy > Playback > Offline toggles.
  4. Easy Access: The Offline Backup playlist will show up on your home screen when you're not connected to the internet, and you can also add it to your library for quicker access.

In essence, while premium users can already download songs for offline playback, Offline Backup provides a convenient, automatic fallback of recent songs, so you have something to listen to even if you haven’t downloaded a playlist manually.

Share and Relive Your Favorite Scenes with Netflix’s New "Moments" Feature

On the Film side, Netflix launched a fresh feature called Moments, perfect for times when you have to share some jaw-dropping scene(s) with friends or whoever. You can now save your favorite clips from Netflix shows or movies and share them on Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook. Plus, anyone who sees your post can jump right into that exact moment on Netflix.

Right now, Moments is available on iOS, with Android coming soon. Saving a scene is simple—just tap “Moments” at the bottom, and it’s added to your My Netflix tab for easy rewatching. And if you ever pick up the episode again, Netflix will smartly start you right from that scene.

So, whether you’re clipping a comedy punchline or a plot twist you can’t stop thinking about, Moments makes sharing and revisiting your Netflix obsessions easier than ever.
